What We Did
Marks Electrical is a large shop and online store, specialising in electronic appliances.
The company has been running for 35 years and were looking for a fun and memorable animated film, which differs from their previous videos of people talking to camera, and very simplistic motion graphics. With such a competitive and crowded market place for tech retail, Marks Electrical needed to resurface and create a prominent brand identity that ensured they stood out from the crowd and their competitors.
Not only was it crucial for them to stand out, but they needed to engage with a wider audience, and push their products into the homes of people across the country. To families, to people buying their first homes, to students and more, we at Spark understood what they were looking for and delivered what was the perfect solution to their problem.
We created a friendly animated robotic character and called it MK1 (Mark Electrical 1). MK1 helped Marks Electrical to appeal to families and younger audiences, being voiced by Josh Barnett, aged 10.
In terms of building Mark Electrical’s brand identity, we made sure that MK1’s robotic body reflects the domestic appliances and technology that they sell, as well as encapsulating their brand colours and logos in MK1 and his smaller assistant robot, Bob.
MK1’s bubbly and vibrant personality represents the friendly teams at Marks electrical, who help customers each and every day.
It was very important that we reiterated Marks Electrical’s highly rated delivery service, so we made sure to create visuals depicting both residential areas and the company warehouse. In addition, MK1 flying into frame was a great way to reflect their ability to speedily reach customers up and down the country.
Our animation was a great success, seeing MK1 utilised across all of their social media and marketing platforms, with the lovable character, MK1, being recently made into a toy.
